Welcome to the new website of the Spetisbury Station Project Group. Since 2012 we have been working up at this former Dorset Central Railway station as part of The New S&D organisation, but in January 2016 we formed our own group, with our own dedicated website. We now have no affiliation with The New S&D, nor do we support its aims. Our long-term plan of rebuilding the station structures as a heritage centre for Spetisbury station and the Somerset & Dorset railway remains the same, but in the meantime we will carry on making the station site as attractive as possible for visitors.
This year looks to be exciting as we remember 50 years since the much loved S&D line closed to passengers, on 6th March 1966. Later on in the year is also the 60th anniversary of the closure of Spetisbury station, on 17th September.
